Groundbreaking will be Held with Spring Splash Activities

The Parks & Recreation Commission of the City of Dardenne Prairie will formally break ground on the new City Hall Park at 1:00 p.m. on April 23. The groundbreaking will be held on the new City Hall Grounds and will be in conjunction with the annual Spring Splash activities.

City Hall Park, a $1.8 million project, will include a 400 seat amphitheater, a 1,200 square foot spray ground – an interactive water playground, and play systems for children of various age groups. The project was designed and will be implemented by St. Louis-based firm, SWT Design. The project is expected to be complete in September 2011.

“The ground breaking of City Hall Park signifies a great deal of progress for the City of Dardenne Prairie. The Parks & Recreation Commission, as well as countless others, have put a tremendous amount of planning into this park to make it one that the City can be proud of.  We’re very excited to see the plans come to fruition,” says Dardenne Prairie Mayor, Pam Fogarty.

The Mayor and other City dignitaries will be on-hand for the formal groundbreaking at 1:00 p.m.  Other Spring Splash activities taking place on the City Hall Grounds include an Easter Egg Hunt kicking off at 10 a.m. for children eight years of age and under. The Arbor Day Celebration will also be occurring and will include the presentation of Essay Awards from area fourth grade students; the first 200 residents will also receive a free tree sapling courtesy of the Missouri Department of Conservation. The annual Earth Day Festival will also run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include children’s activities, composting demonstrations, green gardening tips and much more.
