O’FALLON GARDEN CLUB NEWS

The Twin Chimneys Garden Club officially changed their name to O’Fallon Garden Club.  There are currently 20 members that actively support the following projects: Twin Chimneys Elementary School Butterfly Garden & Outdoor Classroom, a Bluebird Trail consisting of 7 bluebird houses, the United Services Preschool ABC Garden, and two new projects, the Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker and Westhoff Elementary School Earth Club. 

  A Trivia Night was hosted by the O’Fallon Garden Club and the VFW members.  Money was raised to erect a Blue Star Highway Memorial Highway Marker that will be built on the VFW grounds located at Veterans Memorial Drive in O’Fallon, MO.

   In Janaury, the club hosted a program on rain barrels presented by Jessica Robinson, owner of Robinson’s Rain Barrels located in Fenton, MO.  Below is a future program listing:

   February 22, 2011 – Fantastic Flower Shows – Information provided will help prepare members to participate in the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri flower shows. Program at Sunrise United Methodist Church.

   March 22, 2011 – Program at members home (please call Connie at 978-2112). Tour a backyard greenhouse and learn inexpensive gardening techniques to start seed and propagate plants for our upcoming plant sale in April TBA.

   April 26, 2011 - Turning Junk into Treasure – Learn how to turn every day items into beautiful, interesting planters at Members home. Call Barb at 636-978-5930 for details.

   June 28, 2011 – Bed Edging Solutions – Speaker John Hauk, owner of Curb Appeal Landscape Edging. Program at Sunrise United Methodist Church.

  July 26, 2011 – Healthy Gardening Practices – Speaker, Dr. Matthew Cooper, D.C. Techniques will be given in order to prevent common gardening injuries. Program at Sunrise United Methodist Church.

  September 27, 2011 – Progression of Blooms – Speaker, Amy Brinkman, Nursery Manager, Chesterfield Valley Nursery.  Learn how to have year round blooms.  Program at Sunrise United Methodist Church.

  October 25, 2011 – Indoor Hydroponic Gardening – Speakers, Robin and Jason Garmon, Owners of Green Thumb Organics – hands-on workshop. Bring a  plant cutting to root. Program at Green Thumb Organics-249 Mid-Rivers Mall-O’

   The O’Fallon Garden Club meetings start at 6:30 and held the Fourth Tuesday at Sunrise United Methodist Church in the Twin Chimneys Subdivision, 7116 Twin Chimneys Blvd (unless otherwise noted).  Please call our President, Barb, for further information at 636-978-5930.
